In preparation for your trip through Uzbekistan, please bear in mind the following: Currency & Payments: While credit cards are increasingly accepted in major hotels and restaurants in Tashkent, it is essential to carry cash (Uzbek Som) for local bazaars and smaller cities. Registration: Travelers must be registered at each place of stay; hotels will provide registration slips which should be kept until departure. Connectivity: Local SIM cards are widely available for tourists, providing affordable mobile data across most urban areas and tourist hubs.

With an approved LOI you can apply for your visa at a Turkmen embassy or consulate abroad, or obtain it directly at the Turkmen land border at Gaudan (Bajgiran/Mashhad, Iran), Farab (Bukhara, Uzbekistan), Shavat (Khiva, Uzbekistan), Khojeyli (Nukus, Uzbekistan); at Bekdash (Aktau, Kazakhstan), or at the international airport in Ashgabat upon arrival. Visa are not issued at the land borders of Serakhs (Iran), Serhetabat (Afghanistan) and Turkmenbashi (the Caspian Sea Port).

Get to

The international airport in Tashkent serves as the primary gateway to Uzbekistan, connecting the country to the rest of the world: Air Travel: Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport hosts major international carriers and the national airline, Uzbekistan Airways, which offers direct flights to Europe, Asia, and North America. High-Speed Rail: Once inside, the "Afrosiyob" high-speed train is the most efficient way to travel between Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. Land Borders: Uzbekistan shares borders with all Central Asian nations, making it an ideal hub for regional Silk Road itineraries.

What to Expect

Uzbekistan’s climate is continental, characterized by clear seasons and a rich cultural landscape: Climate: Summers are hot and dry, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C, while winters are cold. The most pleasant times to visit are during the spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October). Culture: You will encounter a blend of ancient Islamic architecture and Soviet-era history, all tied together by the legendary hospitality of the Uzbek people. Cuisine: Food is a central part of the experience; expect to enjoy a variety of traditional dishes, most notably the world-famous Uzbek Plov.
